National Insurance Policy

In this day and age, anyone putting on an engine/tractor show needs to be insured for protection from lawsuits which may result from a spectator being injured at a show or property damage caused by our equipment. The cost of liability insurance is prohibitive for most clubs and individuals. Joining EDGE&TA is one way for individuals as well as existing clubs to obtain insurance coverage at a reasonable price.

Our EDGE&TA liability insurance covers general liability which is in a “nut shell” bodily injury and/or property damage a member is found LEGALLY LIABLE FOR to a third party. An example could be damage or injury to a third party a member is legally liable for caused by a member’s antique equipment at shows or events. Examples would be tractors driving or pulling; antique engine and farm equipment displayed. This applies if all EDGE&TA safety rules are being followed. The coverage begins when the equipment hits the ground and ends when the equipment is off the ground. It does not include loading and unloading or travel back and forth from home. That should be included with your vehicle insurance. It also does not include accidents that happen at the event that have nothing to do with our equipment. That includes falls, injury due to buildings on the grounds or other accidents of this nature. As the definition of general liability above indicates, it also does NOT apply to damage or injury to a member or member’s property. A member is NOT a third party. It will also defend a member should action be brought against them until such time as the member is found to be liable or not.

Within the Scope of the general liability policy for EDGE&TA, the member Branches are included as Additional Insured. In laymen terms, this extends only this policy coverage, terms and conditions to the additional insured. A Certificate Of Additionally Insured shows proof to the landowner that our Branches have liability insurance.

We have restructured our web page so that most questions are answered in the “Q & A Section“.  The “Insurance Summary” goes into more detail on the coverage and gives actual amounts.

  1. If you have questions regarding our insurance, go to the “Insurance Summary“.
  2. The new “Frequently Asked Questions” section explains most questions.
  3. Request for “Additional Insured Certificate“.
  4. Request for “Proof of Insurance Certificate“.
  5. Event Report
  6. Only contact the Insurance Company if there is a problem with a certificate or an emergency.
